iRaid
I've been increasingly looking at getting some network storage for our house. The cellar has a nice ethernet patchbay we could hang it off, and having to reconnect an external firewire drive every time I want to synchronise my music is a total pain.
But then I realised I already have three ipods that are in various stages of knackeredness - but only the control surfaces or headphone outputs. 140GB would keep me going quite nicely actually...
Why isn't there a gadget which would allow you to take all these knackered bits of storage - maybe a few dozen of those useless free-gift 256MB USB sticks too - and just turn them into a heavily-striped Raid array on your network.
