In the slipstream of the long tail
For the second time in two weeks, I've found myself buying CDs from online stores which aren't even *listed* on Amazon.
Firstly, if you buy the newer, superior, Neville Creed recording of David Fanshawe's world music classic "African Sanctus", you'll wait for over a month before Amazon send it to you. If you buy it via David Fanshawe's site you get this version, in two days, with him putting a custom autograph on it (if he's in the country at the time).
Secondly scottish second-wave-of-prog-rock-ers Pallas have a pretty functional site, but an online store with just EVERYTHING on it. And it looks like they're keeping afloat from it too...
Perhaps those record companies (or if you're an author, publishers) are just part of your initial marketing push now...
