A Parent's Song of Joy
She slept through the night,
She slept through the night,
la la lalala
I don't feel crap in the morning
She's still lying still in her cot
And not because she's de--aad
But because she slept,
and I don't care if it was a fluke,
or early,
Cos she slept, slept through the night.

Apparently, when I was a baby, I eventually slept through the night. My mum had this secret family recipe called 'a drop of whisky in milk'. That explains a lot.

Ah-hum. I was a nightowl baby. My dad used to walk me up and down the street in the middle of the night so I could point at the sky and say "moon tah!" (moon and stars). (Much later I learned there is actually a place called Moontah, but I've never been there.)
Now, not wishing to rain on your parade, but having had a SIDS baby I go thud when I read that 6th line.

My deepest sympathy on that Madolyn. And I definitely wasn't making light of it - that was the first worry! (And often still is if she's breathing too quietly..)
