The Joy Slightly More Fettered After All...
As Piers has pointed out, the reason why I've now stopped getting comment spam is because MT-Blacklist has broken my comments system.
Arse.
Normal service will be resumed...at some stage.

I have cruelly maligned MT-Blacklist. If you insist on putting plaintext in the MT 'Banned IP address' list, what do you expect.
