A cute Dave Shrigley?
Edward Monkton has been responsible for a bunch of cards we've been sent recently.
There's a naive silliness behind his simple black-and-white designs, but also something deeper.

Edward Monkton is a genius! His cards have totally reformed my friendship with my best friend Katy. She has now become the biscuit and I the potato due to his 'friendship' card, the biscuit can only truly be a biscuit when its with its real friend the potato. Thank you for giving us hours of laughter.

my friend katie and i have a tradition of sending eachother edward monkton cards - i am the potato to her biscuit, and we are friend A and B who can connect without speaking and we may be peculiar in the head!

this man is a hero, he has inspired me in so many ways. i have his pictures all over my walls, i will only drink out of his mugs, and i only send edward monkton cards. they make me think deeply about my life and how i live it, they also make me laugh and sometimes even bring tears to my inspired eyes. i love this man with all my heart and dont know what i would do if he didnt do the inspired work he is doing. LOVE YOU EDDIE!!!

I'm obsessed with Edward Monkton. How can one person have such insight into the world? I've found the best thing though - you can now send Edward Monkton images to colour mobile phones. You can get them from www.mcards.co.uk - brilliant!

But did you know he's also Purple Ronnie? Spooky...
Posted by: Caroline at October 22, 2004 11:38 AM
he's purple ronnie-he's been under a pseudonym all this TIME?! I think i prefer these cards- my favourite by FAR is the friendship card:
FRIENDSHIP
The GARLIC is a friend of the CARROTS the CARROTS are friends of the POTATO the ONION is fickle and cannot decide where her loyalties lie and has hence formed a LOVELESS but PRACTICAL alliance with everyone except the BROCCOLI. Do not ask about the BROCCOLI it will only MAKE YOU CRY
i think i'll have an eternal love for this guy!
